Strengthening Primary Care
Our Mission
We seek to create a primary care driven system in the U.S. The PCIN will strengthen primary care by building bridges among employers, citizens who value primary care, and the primary care community including medical students and residents.
The PCIN was formed to strengthen the foundation of primary care across the U.S. in ways that help achieve the quadruple aim: higher quality, lower cost, improved community health and joy in practice for all members of the team, including patients.
Providing Family Physician and General Internist Innovators with a venue to showcase their solutions to our current healthcare and medical education challenges.
Educating medical students, residents and the general public about primary care and its potential to transform health service delivery and improve the health of the communities in our nation.
Educating employers, especially the self-insured employers) about the value of a primary care strategy that provides advanced primary care solutions for their employees.
Ensuring that primary care practices, working with self-insured healthcare organizations and their employees, have the support they need to provide advanced primary care solutions.
Strengthening the primary care/Family Medicine community at all levels.
Projects of the PCIN
The Innovators Network
Primary Care Driven Solutions are one of the best kept secrets in the U.S. healthcare system. Why primary care? Because primary care is anchored in an accessible, effective, efficacious, and equitable model of health care. When primary care leaders tackle a problem they see the big picture and focus on the needs of patients and their families. Their solutions have been ignored in the past. For the good of our communities, it’s time to increase awareness of primary care driven approaches to health system improvement.

PCIN Publishing Circle
The stories of primary care clinicians have the power to inform and change minds. Family Physicians, behavioral medicine professionals and other health professionals will learn how to develop stories from their clinical practice into well crafted pieces. Those who volunteer to participate in the coaching process will meet with a storytelling coach who can educate them and motivate them to complete their writing. Each participant will be responsible for publishing a written piece at least every three months.
